Stand By For Action!! - Colonel Bleep (1950's animation)

Stand By For Action!! - Colonel Bleep (1950's animation)

Colonel Bleep is an animated classic from the 1950's. It was way ahead of it's time with regard to recent and modern UFO theories and speculations, a prime example being the appearance of UFO's as a direct consequence of the detonation of nuclear weapons.

Colonel Bleep was the FIRST EVER colour cartoon created specifically for television!! Originally syndicated in 1957 as a segment on, “Uncle Bill's TV Club.” Out of the 104 episodes created, less than half are known to still exist!!

On August 23, 2005 Alpha Video released a DVD entitled Colonel Bleep, Volume 1. The DVD contains 23 episodes, about 20 of which do not appear on any earlier videocassette releases, nearly doubling the number of episodes of the series that were previously thought to exist.

Colonel Bleep's story was a strange one!! An interplanetary intelligence agent from/for the planet Futura, and his space deputies Squeek, a happy-go-lucky puppet-boy, and Scratch, a caveman who fell asleep until the first atomic explosion blew him from the past into the present.

Based on Zero Zero Island , from here they battled their arch-enemies like Dr. Destructo. The plotlines for Colonel Bleep were incredibly advanced, especially for a children's program although due to restrictions of the 1950's the quality of animation is extremely basic.

Ren and Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi is among its fans and has acknowledged the influence of Colonel Bleep on his own work.

Here's the first two episodes of Colonel Bleep that were ever created.

Village Fires Blamed On Ufos

A SERIES of bizarre fires in a village were caused by aliens testing weapons, Italian government officials believe. A report into the unexplained fires in fridges, TVs and mobile phones blamed creatures from outer space.

Canneto di Caronia was the centre of world attention three years ago after residents reported everyday household objects bursting into flames. News footage at the time showed electrical appliances, cookers, a pile of wedding presents and items of furniture smouldering.

Dozens of experts, including scientists, electrical engineers and military personnel, arrived in the village on Sicily, 60 miles east of Palermo, to investigate the phenomenon.

Arson was quickly ruled out and at one stage an amazed scientist was interviewed after he described how he saw an unplugged electrical cable burst into flames. Locals were quick to blame supernatural forces.

At the time, the Vatican's chief exorcist, Father Gabriele Amorth, agreed, saying: "I've seen things like this before. Demons occupy a house and appear in electrical goods.

"Let's not forget that Satan and his followers have immense powers."

Now an interim report by the civil protection department into the strange goings-on has been leaked and published in several Italian newspapers. The investigation has so far taken two years and cost around £1million

It concludes that the most likely cause was "aliens testing secret weapons". The conclusion that aliens were responsible was supported by the testimony of numerous residents who claimed to have seen UFOs overhead at the time of the fires.

According to the report, the fires were "caused by high-power electromagnetic emissions which were not man made and reached a power of between 12 and 15 gigawatts". The report also contains details of a possible UFO landing close to Caronia after "burnt imprints which have not been explained were found in a field".

Yesterday, Francesco Mantegna Venerando, Sicily's civil protection chief, said: "This is not the final report. We are still working on our conclusions and this has been leaked. "We are not saying that little green men from Mars started the fires but that unnatural forces capable of creating a large amount of electromagnetic energy were responsible. "This is just one possibility. We are also looking at the fires being caused by testing of top secret weapons by an unknown power who are also capable of producing an enormous amount of energy."

Last night, the town's mayor Giuseppe Collura was unavailable for comment!!

Kecksburg - Crashed Saucer Update

NASA to search for related 1965 UFO files
Government agency fought the move in federal court

NASA has agreed to search its archives once again for documents on a 1965 UFO incident in Pennsylvania, a step the space agency fought in federal court.

The government has refused to open its files about what, if anything, moved across the sky and crashed in the woods near Kecksburg, Pa., 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The Air Force’s explanation: "A meteor or meteors!!"

Eyewitnesses said that a flatbed truck drove away a large object shaped like an acorn and about the size of a Volkswagen bus. Traffic was tied up in the area as curiosity seekers drove to the area, only to be kept away from the crash site by soldiers.

"They could not find anything," one Air Force memo stated after a late-night search on Dec. 9, 1965. Several NASA employees also were reported to have been at the scene.

Eyewitnesses said a flatbed truck drove away a large object shaped like an acorn and about the size of a Volkswagon bus. A mock-up based on the descriptions of local residents sits behind the Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Haunted Playground Swing - Firmat , Argentina

It's that time of year again.......

In Firmat , Argentina there is a playground that has three swings side by side. Locals say the swing moves independent from any visible external source for up to 10 days at a time!!

Locals are also convinced that a ghost is behind the, “Haunted” playground swing that moves backward and forward on its own. This started three to four months ago before local patrons called in the police. The police (I suppose as there was no one to arrest) were equally puzzled and subsequently called in physics professors.

The professors were unable to find an explanation, so after ruling out possibilities of magnetic and electrical fields, and wind currents the physics professors have called on, “Ghost Hunters!!”

Teacher Maria de Silva Agustina said that the playground was haunted, adding, "One child called it the Blair Witch Playground. We believe it is haunted." (Reported in the UK Sun tabloid)

I suggest you turn the sound down a little as original audio is very poor.

UFO Photographed in San Luis Valley, Colorado (Aug 20th, 2007)

UFO Photographed in San Luis Valley, Colorado (Aug 20th, 2007)

I have recently been in contact with someone who has a couple of rather bizarre images he captured recently. (Real name supplied.) I originally made contact with Belizeman when he posted a lnk to his image on UFOCasebook.com Forums. He also posted them to his Flickr account (Belizeman01)

Original images cropped and slight zoom.
San Luis Valley UFO

Belizeman01 says,

"On my Flickr site are other lights in the sky that I noticed and posted when I got back from vacation from August 20……..I find it very spooky that in three days I noted a half dozen "objects" taken only a few miles apart in San Luis Valley, Colorado. Ranchers tell me it's a radar dead zone because of the three mountain ranges surrounding the valley.

I was at the Zapata Falls lookout point, due east of the Watchtower, across the San Luis Valley. Zapata Falls is located about four miles south of Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado. <The object> maintained a steady course, speed similar to a commercial jet, until it was lost behind a mountain range north of the park.”

The two images were taken 2-3 seconds apart and Belizeman01 says that the camera never left his eye, adding that, “I often shoot off two or three shots rapidly to ensure a good photo, even when doing tripod work.”

Two UFO images animated with a lapse of 2.5 seconds.
San Luis Valley UFO animation

The parallels between the image and a commercial aircraft are also something that has been considered, Belizeman01 is quick to point out that he too can see the similarities between his image and that of a commercial aircraft.

Image after being run through a couple of filters.
San Luis Valley UFO Filter

“Enlarge it less or check out my Flickr site, and more detail is seen. Rotating it a bit and the similarity to a plane is clear. Yet exam how the rudder is now broadside to the direction of flight. The nose appears to be flat; curved up slightly like a ski ramp. In addition, where's the other wing? This was not a damaged plane crashing to earth. I do wonder what the dark, haziness from the centre of the craft is? It looks like an exhaust plume to me, except it was travelling the opposite direction.”

A Delta Winged Delight!!

The Vulcan bomber cut its teeth during the Cold War before going on to prove invaluable during the Falklands conflict. It flew for the first time on 18th October for over fourteen years!!

It's worth a mention if for no other reason than the now legendary Kenneth Arnold sighting, which as you can see below has similar characteristics and the subsequent story is credited with coining the phrase, “Flying Saucer.”

Kenneth Arnold Saucer - 1947

Boasting a top speed of 645mph it had once been an integral part of Britain's nuclear deterrent and served as a maritime reconnaissance, air-to-air refueller before becoming a Vulcan Display Aircraft for six years from 1986 before being retired from active service in 1992.

Extensive restoration work has been carried out on the Vulcan and the XH558 will undergo further test flights before it can gain a Civil Aviation Authority permit to take part in air shows. It is hoped the aircraft will then become the star turn at events from next spring.

Ministry Of Defence Press Release

The Cold War bomber left RAF service in 1984 but yesterday, XH558B, based at Bruntingthorpe Airfield near Leicester, made a spectacular 40 minute flight before returning home with a textbook landing.

The restoration, by the Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VST), was completed in the 25th anniversary year of the Falklands Conflict. The only time they were used in a combat situation, Vulcans flew the longest bombing mission in history to put Port Stanley Airfield out of action denying its use to Argentine invaders in 1982. This forced their aircraft to operate against the British task force at the limit of their endurance and only from the Argentine mainland.

The brief flight yesterday over the Leicester countryside paves the way for the Vulcan Operating Co (VOC) applying for a display licence to star at airshows from next year. Pilot Al McDicken said after he touched down: "Everything worked and she flew like a dream. We rose to 2,000ft at 200 knots and tested the undercarriage. Then we increase speed to 250 knots and carried out a few more tests. Before we knew it, it was time to touchdown."

Keith Mans, recently-appointed Chairman of the Trustees of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, said:
"Today the Vulcan rejoins the exclusive club of iconic military aircraft – including the Lancaster and Spitfire - still able to take to the air and be instantly recognisable. The challenge now is to keep her flying for many years to come – so we need to continue raising funds in the same way as before........This is an appropriate time to thank all our supporters, the volunteer workforce and the RAF who provided aircraft electrical technicians for many years to work on XH558 as part of their continuation training. The project to restore her to flying condition was probably one of the longest and most complicated in UK aviation history."

Former Chairman Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Knight added:
"For the past ten years the Vulcan team has worked tirelessly to get XH558 back in the air. Now that goal has been achieved the focus must switch to keeping her there. Each operating year will cost an estimated £1.6 m. It's all worth it bearing in mind the Vulcan's amazing power, grace and manoeuvrability. And of course the Delta shape is returning to the RAF in the shape of the Typhoon."

Vulcan pilot Martin Withers is one of four ex-RAF bomber pilots authorised to fly XH558. He flew the first bombing mission over the Falklands, cratering the runway with a line of 1,000lb bombs. He was on the ground yesterday as the Vulcan – one of the last to be decommissioned and leave RAF Service in 1984 – flew overhead. He said: "It was flown into Bruntingthorpe by Dave Thomas – it was fitting he was in the cockpit for this inaugural flight after 14 years. It is the first time a jet aircraft of this size has been restored to flying condition and seeing her fly is another very proud moment of my life. She lifted off like a dream, belying her 50 tonne weight. But it was a different story taking off from Ascension in 1982 in hot conditions and with less powerful engines and a full bomb load."

"XH558 is now equipped to modern flying standards. Little is obvious from the outside, but internally she now has sophisticated flying systems and avionics such as GPS. To facilitate this, unnecessary equipment associated with her bombing past has been stripped out where appropriate. Over the past eight years every rivet, pipe, piece of wiring and switch has been fully checked and upgraded or replaced – we acquired several hundred tonnes of spares including four extra engines when we acquired her and these will enable her to have a flying life of about a decade.

Ultimately this time in the air now depends on the availability of spares for each component and the air frame itself. "It was very emotional watching her lift off, circle twice and land perfectly - definitely the pinnacle of my aviation career."

Technically the Vulcan currently flies under the control of Marshall Aerospace of Cambridge. Once more test flights have been completed the Civil Aviation Authority is expected to issue a permit to fly which will then enable owners the VOC to plan the flying programme for 2008.
Joint Force Harrier Junior Technician Stu Youds of 4 Sqn, RAF Cottesmore is on the VTS Club Committee. The 3,500-member club helps by raising funds and provides volunteers to support hangar work, look after visitors and develop the education programme.

He said: "The British public now has a direct link between the aircraft of World War Two still flying and the Cold War. The Vulcan succeeded fully at both the strategic and conventional levels – not many aircraft can claim that."

Following the Second World War the then Air Ministry decided to replace its ageing propeller-driver bomber fleet with a new generation of aircraft. The demanding requirement was for a four-engined jet bomber that could fly higher (more that 50,000ft), faster (up to 500 knots) and further (more than 3,000 miles) than anything ever built. Critically it also had to be able to carry the huge British nuclear bomb, projected to weigh 4,500kg (10,000lbs).

Lancaster designer Roy Chadwick came up with an innovative design – a huge delta wing that would allow the engines, undercarriage and bomb load to be enclosed in a low drag shape which gave good high altitude and high speed performance.

The first Avro Vulcan was delivered to the RAF in July 1956 and 83 Sqn was formed. Alongside Valiants and Victors they became known and the RAF's V-Force - the leading component of Britain's independent strategic deterrence in the Cold War era of the 50's and 60's. More than 100 Vulcans stood ready to defend the UK against all-out attack with nuclear weapons.

By 1982 the Vulcan had been in service far longer than originally envisaged. Its replacement – Tornado GR1 – had started to enter service but the rundown of squadrons and aircraft was shelved when several Vulcans were selected for duties in the South Atlantic. Refuelled by a carefully-planned sequence of Victor air-to-air tankers, the first audacious raid took place at the early hours of 1 May and was a daring and successful attack on the occupying forces who woke up to find their only airfield for vital supplies had been denied them.

But the high-profile part the Vulcan played in liberating the Falklands caused only a short delay in the retirement of the V bomber force and on its final retirement the RAF decided to retain two, later reduced to one Vulcan for display purposes. In 1992 the final one – XH558 - was sent into retirement.

HyperBlimp UFO

After writing a recent post on Lynn Murphy (UFO Hoaxer) I also referenced a Mr Daniel Geery who as you may remember unintentionally caused several UFO reports/sightings when he lost control of his Hyperblimp.

Daniel Geery has since been in contact and assures everyone that this was simply an accident and in no way was he trying to fool, alarm or frighten anybody. Daniel was initially inspired by a John McPhee book, “The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed” back in 1995. The result of this inspiration is the Hyperblimp, an ultra-streamlined, low drag, helium-filled airship that is capable of moving in any direction thanks to its rear propeller. For loads of videos of the Hyperblimp in action as well as a brief history and related media then visit Hyperblimp.com.

British Company Unveils new UAV Flying Saucer

Originally posted on Stormwarning’s rather nice and clean looking Blog on October 10th 2007 under the title, "Finally! A Real Flying Saucer Sighting". So for all relevant links including the, “Coanda Effect,” patents, company websites and even a video, visit Stormwarning’s Blog (click text.)

As time passes, the future comes closer to reality. A small British company, GFS Projects, has built the world’s first flying saucer…its a UAV flying saucer with applications for close quarter surveillance and intelligence gathering for military and law enforcement, mountain rescue, and farming. Farming? I guess if it can hover and fly close to and within buildings…

This is our artist’s impression of a fully engineered, larger GFS craft. The aerodynamic principles of the GFS design are fully scalable. The development programme will work through a series of scaling stages over the coming months to prove this in practice. Picture courtesy of GPS Products

Applications of this flying saucer are listed here. This 60-cm-diameter flying saucer made its first flight about a month ago at a technology event at Churchill College, Cambridge and is capable of vertical take off, fully controlled flight, hovering, and landing on a specified point. Now for the science and technology part.

The flying saucer is based on what is called the Coanda Effect that was discovered in 1930 by the Romanian aerodynamicist Henri-Marie Coanda (1885-1972). He has observed that a steam of air (or a other fluid) emerging from a nozzle tends to follow a nearby curved surface, if the curvature of the surface or angle the surface makes with the stream is not too sharp.

Coast2Coast Fireball UFO

Coast2Coast Fireball UFO

In 1990 mid-summer I was repairing damaged fence line on my North forty in Broken Arrow OK. I usually camp at the site when I have large repairs to do. At about 2:00am my horses started running back and forth and the cattle began caterwauling. I thought coyotes had came for a calf.

Then the animals became dead silent; they didn't even move. It became completely silent, I couldn't hear anything. Then all of a sudden it became almost completely lit up like it was 9:00am, to the north. It looked like the sun was coming up.

I ran back to the camp and grabbed my camcorder and started filming. Please keep in mind that it was around 2:00am and the sun was many hours from rising. I panned the camera around and the look on my animals was strange. They look as if in a trance-- no reaction at all, almost as if they were in a state of shock. The fireball went higher and higher until out of sight. After it was gone, the animals went on as if nothing happened. I could not even guess how far away it was, it looked as if the sun decided to rise at 2:00am. From the time I first saw the light till it vanished was about 5 to 8 minutes.

I have had this video for some time now, but didn't want to bring any unwanted attention to myself. I have shortened up the video clip because of size but the look on the animal's faces gives me a chill to this day.

UFO Hoaxers And Their Toys

Meet Linn Murphy, a man with perhaps a little too much time on his hands? Linn Murphy has built himself a 3 foot wide reinforced foam flying saucer that’s remote controlled and can hit 40 mph thanks to a tiny electric motor.

This isn’t the first time a, “Hobbyist” has caught the attention of the unsuspecting public. So are they hoaxers, misunderstood, jokers or another name that it’s not really prudent to label them with!!

There is one aspect of these, “Boys with toys” that is perhaps worth delving deeper into, and that would be the sociological aspect and the effects of these sightings on the general public.

The recent flight of Linn Murphy's ring (!!) brought about some rather interesting reports, Orange County’s Mutual UFO Network took several calls about erratic, flying objects. The Web site UFOinfo.com was posting reports of “glowing orbs” in south Orange County.

And interestingly one 53-year-old man reported a large glowing ball that “appeared to drip fire.” It travelled about five miles in a few seconds, he said, and left an “acrid type odour” in the air.

Linn Murphy's ring is powered by a 7.4-volt lithium battery and basically is a foam toy with flashing lights that make it appear to spin. It is propeller driven and his most recent demonstration panicked unsuspecting shoppers, one of whom was a Mr Haywood Bagley, who apparently told his wife:

“I hope they don’t start shooting. If I go down, you get in the car, Baby!!”

Also soliciting such comments as:

“Oh my gosh, did you see it? There was a UFO bigger than my house!”

Lt. Rich Paddock, police chief for Aliso Viejo says:

“We’ve had strange calls – people reporting UFOs and strange sounds in the air. But they’re not doing anything illegal. There’s no ordinance that says it’s illegal to fly a super-double-secret, gyroscopic UFO in county airspace.”

I’m sure people can remember back on the 13th June, 2007 when a UFO was filmed over Salt Lake City, Utah which turned out to be a, “Hyper-Blimp.”

Daniel Geery, a local Utah resident was testing the “hyper blimp”, when he lost control of it. Again eye witness reports say it was up to a 100ft long, where as in actuality it was more like 20ft. He was apparently testing a new propeller which was a bigger drain on the battery than anticipated, resulting in the loss of control.

Here you can see some footage of the Blimp in action.

Skies to be swept for alien life

The switch has been thrown on a telescope specifically designed to seek out alien life.

Funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, the finished array will have 350 six-metre antennas and will be one of the worlds largest. The Allen Telescope Array (ATA) will be able to sweep more than one million star systems for radio signals generated by intelligent beings.
Its creators hope it will help spot definite signs of alien life by 2025. The ATA is being run by the Seti Institute and the Radio Astronomy Laboratory from the University of California, Berkeley, US.

"For Seti, the ATA's technical capabilities exponentially increase our ability to search for intelligent signals, and may lead to the discovery of thinking beings elsewhere in the Universe," said Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the Seti Institute in a statement.

On 11 October, the first 42 dishes of the array started gathering data that will be analysed for signs of alien life and help with conventional radio astronomy. The first test images produced by the array are radio maps of the Andromeda Galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy.

Rather than being hand built, each six-metre antenna is made of a mass-produced dish and off-the-shelf components. Behind the scenes, digital signal processing software is used to analyse data and clean out man-made interference that would otherwise make the captured information useless.

The layout of the array has also been carefully plotted so the instruments work in unison to take a single snapshot of huge swathes of the sky. The ATA's creators claim that even with only 42 antennas on-stream, the instrument already rivals larger instruments in its ability to carry out brightness, temperature and point source surveys. When all 350 dishes are gathering data, the ATA's creators say it will allow the gathering of data on an "unprecedented" scale.

The finished instrument will be able to study an area of the sky 17 times larger than that possible with the Very Large Array in New Mexico. Mr Allen has provided Seti and Berkeley with a $25m grant to fund the initial construction work on the instrument. Other sponsors are being sought for the other $25m needed to complete the project.

It is expected to help improve understanding of such phenomena as supernovas, black holes, and exotic astronomical objects that have been predicted but never observed. The array is situated in Hat Creek, California, and lies about 290 miles (470 km) north of San Francisco

UFO in BBC News Footage?

UFO in BBC News Footage?

A Possible UFO in BBC News Footage?

This is a strange one!! In recent footage from the BBC News (20 th September, 2007) and whilst reporting on an Israeli military exercise near the Syrian border there is some strange footage that accompanies the report that appears to show a couple of objects that are suspect to say the least!!

My first reaction was that it was a scratch or some debris on the hood of the cockpit, but the object certainly appears to pass behind another jet that comes into the field of view.

Here's the edited footage, with the sequence involving the UFO's also being showed (at the end) slowed down a little.

Here's the UFO with the emboss filter applied.

At the minute it appears to remain unidentified…

Photographs of a Flying Saucer in the Sky of Lyon, France on October 6, 2007

Submitted by Christian Macé on behalf of Jacky Creneau

Christian Macé (who himself photographed UFOs in the sky on September 29, 2005) recently submitted a Blog entry of a UFO over Lyon on October 6, 2007.

Christian writes:

“Here 7 pictures after I made in Lyon on Oct. 6, 2007, the second in the district between the Rhone and the Saone with my Canon 400D digital camera with a 58 mm objective Zoom EF - S 18-55 mm 1:3.5-5.6. Two pictures taken at exactly 18.35. Viviane and I were arrested at the beginning of the pedestrian street Victor Hugo, at the corner of St. Helena .

Viviane was facing the street, and St. Helena took a plan that I was watching, the camera neck. I was faced with it, looking north, facing the street Victor Hugo, the direction to reach the subway Ampère.

Suddenly, I saw my face in the sky just above the rue Victor Hugo, a O.V.N.I bell-shaped flat, the equipment came from the West and was heading eastwards ...

By reflex I pulled the picture of the device that started at a high speed. I have had time to zoom in and make a second shot, before it disappeared behind the rooftops, saying Viviane, I have just seen and photographed a flying saucer!

It happened very quickly.”

Here you can see the original and also after being brightened up.

And here is just the UFO after being brightened a little (+ emboss)

Robert Hastings presentation, "UFOs: The Secret Story,"

Three Unidentified Flying Objects carrying three human-like bodies were recovered in New Mexico in 1950, according to a UFO researcher who spoke to New Mexico State University students in the Corbett Center Auditorium Wednesday night.

Sponsored by the Union Program Council, Robert Hastings gave a presentation entitled, "UFOs: The Secret Story," in which Hastings used documents obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests and interviews with former Air Force, CIA and FBI personnel as evidence the UFOs and bodies were recovered. Hastings said UFO sightings began to occur in Los Alamos after initial testing of the atomic bomb.

Hastings also said he was personally involved in a UFO sighting in 1967 and believes they are extraterrestrial objects.

"I was present at the Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana air traffic control tower when five unidentified aerial targets, as they are called, suddenly began to be tracked on multiple radar scopes," Hastings said.

Corina Ramirez, a biology major, said "yes" when asked whether UFOs and aliens exist.

"Robert Hastings presented reliable information about UFO sightings," Ramirez said. "Now I am more convinced about extraterrestrial existence than before."

However, Heather Anderson, an education major, said she was on the border line of believing the information presented by Hastings.

The first massive waves of UFO sightings began in 1947 in every state except Georgia and West Virginia, according to Hastings. Most documented sightings have occurred in the air space above nuclear weapons facilities and power plants.

There is a UFO-nuclear weapons connection, Hastings said.

Hastings displayed one document that described UFOs as "round shaped objects or phenomena moving at a fast velocity and emitting a brilliant white or reflective light."

Government documents also show the sightings in New Mexico were reported to former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Hastings wants more documents held by the U.S. government to be released to the American public.

"I do believe the public is entitled to facts," Hastings said.

Hastings also said the government does not want to inform and has misinformed Americans on this issue for fear of creating a panic like the one caused by the 1938 "War of the Worlds" broadcast.

Hastings referred to the Orson Welles play in which a radio broadcast of ballroom music was interrupted by reports of UFO sightings and attacks. In reaction to the play, some people went to church, packed their belongings and sought safety. According to Hastings, the U.S. government sighted the reaction to the play as reason to withhold information from its citizens.

Hastings also said a producer in Spain broadcasted a play similar to that of Wells to coincide with the 1996 release of "Independence Day" and caused hysteria. Americans will be less hysterical on the arrival of extraterrestrials if the government releases such information, Hastings said.

Martin Rivero, a criminal justice major, said if the government is hiding information on this topic, they should release it and make it public.

Hastings said the government acknowledged the existence of Area 51 in 1996.

No one has all the answers concerning UFOs, Hastings said. However, he assured listeners what they heard Wednesday night is more valid than what the government has told them.
